Mumbai: BSE Sensex down by 56 points in early trade on Monday as funds and retail investors booked profits after recent gains amid a weak trend overseas.

Profit booking In IT Sector , banking, technology, consumer durables, power and capital goods sectors showed negatively impacted trading sentiments.


Rupee down by 9 paise to 63.56 against the US dollar on Monday.

New Delhi: Seven out of eight companies that entered  in Indian stock exchanges this year have shown good returns to investors and are trading way above the issue price. Till now in 2015, eight companies have launched initial public offers (IPO), collectively raising Rs 4,000 cores.


SEBI Updates: To push institutional investors into greater engagement in governance matters of listed firms, a high-level advisory body of regulator Sebi has suggested a new code on the lines of the Stewardship Code of the UK.

EQUITIES

TOKYO - Japan's Nikkei share average fell on Monday, with financial stocks and exporters leading the declines, after Greeks overwhelmingly rejected austerity measures demanded in return for bailout money, throwing the euro zone into turmoil.

The Nikkei share average was down 1.4 percent at 20,242.79 by mid-morning, after falling to as low as 20,195.76 earlier.

Sensex up over 200 points, Nifty above 8400, Jain irrigation surges over 6%, ABG Shipyard 5%

NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Sensex surged over 200points in trade today.

The 50-share Nifty index rose smartly in trade and managed to reclaim its next crucial psychological level of 8400.

McNally Bharat BSE 19.97 % surged 18%, ABG Shipyard BSE 3.67 % gained 5% and Tata Chemicals BSE 3.98 % was up 4% in intraday trade. Jain Irrigation surged over 6 per cent in intraday trade.

Markets will look at Greece with risk-off perspective: Tai Hui, JP Morgan

There is a fifty fifty chance of Greece staying in the European Union, said Tai Hui, managing director and chief market strategist - Asia, JP Morgan AMC. Sensex takes a hit, but survives Chinese market’s selloff scare

MUMBAI: Dalal Street, on Friday, survived a sharp selloff in Chinese equities, which plunged on renewed worries that the country's bull run has come to an end. Indian stocks ended a tad weak on Friday, but losses were marginal compared to the 7% fall in China's benchmark index as upsides in technology stocks helped limit the decline in indices. Sentiment, however, remained nervous after Greece's debt problems deepened amid deadlock between the country and its creditors.
